One subject that is always being brought up is roadside facilities – and there are many issues!

There has been an announcement from Roadchef recently though, and this could hint at the dawn of a new age for truckers and the roadside facilities that are available to them.  Full statement below.

At Roadchef, we are dedicated to enhancing the experience of our customers, particularly those in the haulage industry. Our continuous efforts to improve facilities and services are driven by our commitment to providing convenience, security, and comfort for all drivers who visit our locations. Here’s an overview of the latest updates and improvements we’ve made to ensure your time on the road is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

• Enhanced security and surveillance
  • We have installed state-of-the-art bi-optic thermal PTZ cameras in our HGV parks. These advanced cameras detect heat and movement, ensuring our monitoring team has a clear view and has full control over all cameras. The thermal imaging allows our operators to detect any movement, whether the area is well-lit or not, while a second 4K full-colour stream provides a clear overview of the area.

• More space and convenience
  • As part of Roadchef’s expansion plan, we have increased parking spaces at several locations. Annandale now has 51 additional spaces and Strensham has 40 more spaces. We’re also planning to increase spaces at Tibshelf North later this year.

• Shower upgrades
  • We have installed an additional 33 showers across 12 sites, ensuring minimal wait times and enhanced convenience. The new showers at Tibshelf North and Southbound, Clacket Lane West, Durham, Strensham North, Sutton Scotney North and Southbound, Watford Gap North and Southbound, Annandale, Magor, and Pont Abraham are a fantastic addition.

• Security enhancements
  • We have installed alarmed fencing at Strensham and Annandale, ensuring the enhanced security of your valuable cargo.

• New laundry facilities
  • We are making life on the road more convenient by installing laundry facilities at Clacket Lane West and Magor, with more to follow.

• TAPA Partnership
  • We have achieved TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) partnership accreditations at nine sites and are working towards obtaining more…watch this space.

• Join the Truck Masters Club
  • Earn rewards every time you park with us.  Join the Truck Masters Club by scanning the QR code and start earning points to spend within Roadchef or transfer to Love2Shop vouchers. How does it work? Simply use the app to collect points each time you pay to park (applicable to account holders, SNAP customers, and paying customers). Earn 100 points for every night you stay, which translates to £1. Redeem your points onsite or transfer them to Love2Shop vouchers for a variety of high street and online retailers. When paying to park, just scan the QR code on the app, and your points will instantly appear. SNAP customers or account holders can enter their registration number at the till or self-service kiosk before scanning the app. Check out our range of branded travel mugs, water bottles, hats, caps, and wash bags, available for purchase at our WHSmith stores.
